When do you meet a doctor?

Whether it’s acute or chronic, bronchitis needs medical attention so that you can get proper treatment. If you find that your cough has the following traits, then it’s important to consult your doctor as soon as possible.

  • If you cough up blood or thick/dark mucus (phlegm).

  • If you have a foul taste in your mouth.

  • If it interrupts your sleep.

  • If it lasts more than 3 weeks.

  • If it causes chest pain.

  • If it makes it hard to speak.

  • If it is accompanied by other symptoms like wheezing and/or breathlessness.

  • If it is accompanied with an unexplained weight loss.
