How to Use the Huf Puf Kit: Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps to ensure your child gets their medication safely and effectively.
Preparing the Device:
- Prepare the Inhaler: First, open the mouthpiece cap of the MDI inhaler.
- Shake the Inhaler: Shake the inhaler well to mix the medication.
- Insert into Spacer: Insert the inhaler firmly into the slot at the back of the spacer. The device is now ready.
Administering the Dose:
- Position Your Child: Make sure your child is sitting comfortably and calmly. If your child is very young, you can have them sit or lie on your lap.
- Place the Mask: Gently but firmly place the baby mask over your child's mouth and nose, ensuring it creates a snug seal with no gaps.
- Release the Dose: While holding the mask in place, press the inhaler canister once to release one puff of medicine into the spacer.
- Hold and Breathe: Keep the mask in place for at least 30 seconds while your child breathes normally. This allows them to inhale the medicine from the spacer with their regular breaths.
- Remove and Finish: After 30 seconds, remove the mask from your child's face. Remove the inhaler from the spacer and replace its mouthpiece cap.
- For a Second Dose: If your doctor has prescribed a second dose, wait for one minute before repeating the entire process.
