Zerostat VT Spacer

This device holds the medication for a little while after the pMDI’s actuation. Thus, the spacer helps you inhale all the medication, even if you do not inhale exactly at the same time when the canister is pressed for actuation.

How to Use the Zerostat VT Spacer: Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps carefully to ensure you receive the correct dose of your medication.

Preparing the Device:

  1. Assemble the Spacer: Join the two halves of the spacer together and rotate them until they lock securely in place.
  2. Prepare the Inhaler: Remove the cap from your inhaler's mouthpiece and shake the inhaler well.
  3. Insert the Inhaler: Insert the mouthpiece of the inhaler into the slot at the back of the Zerostat VT Spacer.

Taking Your Dose:

  • Release the Medicine: Press down firmly on the inhaler canister one time to release a single dose of medicine into the spacer chamber.
  • Breathe Out: Exhale completely, turning your head away from the spacer.
  • Inhale the Dose: Immediately after exhaling, place the spacer's mouthpiece into your mouth and close your lips firmly around it to create a good seal. Do not bite it. Breathe in slowly and deeply.
  • Hold Your Breath: Remove the spacer from your mouth and hold your breath for about 10 seconds, or for as long as is comfortable.
  • Breathe Out: Exhale normally.
  • For a Second Dose: If you need to take another puff, wait for one minute, shake your inhaler again, and repeat steps 4-8.
  • Alternative Inhalation Method: If you find it difficult to take one long, deep breath, you can breathe normally through the mouthpiece for 3-5 breaths after releasing the dose into the spacer.

Points to remember

  • Rinse Your Mouth: After you have finished taking your dose(s), rinse your mouth with water and spit it out. This is very important to prevent oral side effects.
  • Cleaning Instructions: Clean your Zerostat VT Spacer at least once a week.
  • Device Replacement: It is recommended to replace your spacer with a new one every six months to ensure it remains effective and hygienic.
